Full-length timed PTE Core mock test facts

The PTE Core mock test is a full-length, timed run through the exam format: 63 tasks in Paper A, 61 in Papers B–F, with 62 and 60 scored. Use it after task practice to check pacing and readiness before booking the real Pearson test.

  • Six papers covering all 19 PTE Core question types across Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening.
  • Timed mock format helps candidates rehearse the ~2-hour PTE Core exam rhythm.
  • A scorecard with your overall score and four communication skill scores, so you can see which skill is holding the total down.

What a PTE Core mock test simulates

Last reviewed: 2026-08-25

A PTE Core mock test is a full-length rehearsal of the real Pearson exam: the same three parts, the same question types in the same order, and a timed flow modeled on the official format. It is not a quiz you dip into for ten minutes. You sit down once, work through every task without stopping, and finish with a score report. That is the only way to find out whether your pacing, your stamina, and your weakest skill hold up under exam conditions. Candidates who drill single question types often discover on test day that they run out of time in Part 1, or lose concentration halfway through Listening. A mock test is where you would rather find that out.

Is there a free PTE Core mock test here?

Straight answer: full-length mock exams on this site are part of Premium. Daily task practice is free, and for most of your preparation that is the part you actually need.

Free every day

Premium only

  • The six full-length timed mock papers described below.
  • The end-to-end score report that follows a completed paper.

If you are early in preparation, start with free task practice. A mock test earns its place once you can already handle individual question types and want a readiness check before booking your Pearson date.

What is inside the mock exams on this site

Six reviewed full-length papers, each mirroring the live PTE Core format.

  1. 1Paper A runs 63 tasks, 62 of them scored. Papers B–F run 61 tasks each, 60 of them scored. The extra task is the unscored Personal Introduction, exactly as in the real test.
  2. 2All 19 PTE Core question types appear in every paper, from Read Aloud and Repeat Sentence through Summarize Written Text, Write Email, the reading and listening formats, and Write from Dictation.
  3. 3Each paper takes about two hours end to end, with per-part timing modeled on the official PTE Core format.
  4. 4Questions are human-reviewed rather than auto-generated, and each paper is fixed, so every attempt uses the same version of that paper.

How the timed flow works

The mock follows official PTE Core part sequencing, so nothing about test-day navigation comes as a surprise.

  1. 1. Part 1, Speaking and Writing: Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Describe Image, Respond to a Situation, Answer Short Question, Summarize Written Text, and Write Email.
  2. 2. Part 2, Reading: single and multiple answer multiple choice, Reorder Paragraphs, and both fill-in-the-blanks formats.
  3. 3. Part 3, Listening: Summarize Spoken Text, Fill in the Blanks, Multiple Choice Single Answer, Select Missing Word, Multiple Choice Multiple Answers, Highlight Incorrect Words, and Write from Dictation.
  4. 4. Per-task timers follow the official part structure. Save and Exit stores your current question and the remaining time, so you resume from the same point instead of starting over.

What the score report gives you

Submit a completed paper and you get an exam-style scorecard: an overall score plus your four communication skill scores — listening, reading, speaking, and writing — shown both as a summary and as a breakdown bar for each skill. The value is a single view across all four skills. A single practice question tells you about that question; a full paper shows which of the four skill scores is lowest, which is the decision you actually need before booking a test date. The report is a practice indication only and cannot be used for university applications or immigration.

Turning a mock result into a study plan

A score on its own changes nothing. The useful loop is short.

  1. 01Take the mock under real conditions: no pausing, no lookups, headphones on.
  2. 02Read the report and find your lowest one or two skill scores — listening, reading, speaking, or writing.
  3. 03Pick the question types that feed those skills and drill them with free daily task practice until the pattern feels automatic.
  4. 04Convert your target score to CLB and check it clears the level your Express Entry profile needs.
  5. 05Sit a different paper two to three weeks later and check whether the same skill still has your lowest score.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Taking a mock too early. Before you know the question types, the result only tells you what you already knew.
  • Pausing the timer or looking things up. The score stops reflecting test-day conditions.
  • Repeating the same paper. Familiarity inflates the score, so use a different paper for the next check.
  • Chasing the overall number instead of working on the lowest skill score behind it.
  • Booking the real exam before a single full-length rehearsal, then discovering a pacing problem when finding out means paying the exam fee twice.
