How It Works

You will hear a sentence. Type the sentence in the response box. Write as many words as you can.

Each correctly spelled word scores one point.

Use the high-frequency WFD question bank for scored attempts, then replay difficult sentences in the WFD audio loop to reinforce spelling, word order, and listening memory.

Scoring Factors

  • Correct words: 1 point per word (some systems require the word to be in the correct order, but usually, words in sequence are key).
  • Spelling: Must be 100% accurate to earn the point.
  • Extra words: Generally ignored. Use this to your advantage!

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Spelling errors (watch out for endings like 's', '-ed', etc.).
  • Running out of time (this is the last section!).
  • Overthinking grammar instead of writing what you heard.

Practice Method

If you're unsure whether it's "boy" or "boys", write both! e.g., "The boy boys is are playing." You get points for correct words and no penalty for extras. This is called the "hedging" strategy.
