Accepted Language Tests
IRCC accepts the following approved tests for Express Entry.
PTE Core
Approved English test for Express Entry.
IELTS General Training
Approved English test for Express Entry.
CELPIP-G
Approved English test for Express Entry.
TEF Canada
Approved French test for Express Entry.
TCF Canada
Approved French test for Express Entry.
CLB Requirements by Program
Minimum language levels depend on the program and job classification.

| Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) | CLB 7 in all skills | Minimum for first official language. |
| Canadian Experience Class (TEER 0/1) | CLB 7 in all skills | Based on job TEER category. |
| Canadian Experience Class (TEER 2/3) | CLB 5 in all skills | Based on job TEER category. |
| Federal Skilled Trades (FST) | CLB 5 speaking/listening; CLB 4 reading/writing | Minimum thresholds by skill. |
French requirements use NCLC levels. Check IRCC for the latest equivalents.
Result Validity Rules
Your results must be valid at both profile and application stages.
Results must be less than 2 years old when you complete your Express Entry profile.
Results must still be valid when you submit your PR application.
